CareActors: My New Colleagues.

Most of my work life these days is a balancing act between speaking jobs and acting in theatre, film and television. It's a wonderful combination because each of these performance skills feeds into each other.The art of story-telling is important for teachers and trainers and the best training ground in the world for improving one's story-telling abilities is practiced in the arts.This past year I was thrilled to receive a nomination for an Ovation Award for my work in a play entitled Family Planning. Another actor in the cast Elia Saldana was part of the CareActors Troupe and she invited the writers and artistic director to our show.They approached me after the play and asked if I would like to audition to become part of their troupe It was one of the most thorough, comprehensive 3 step interview processes I have ever encountered. Truly first class. I have now been officially named a CareActor. What is a CareActor? CareActors is a one-of-a-kind educational theatre troupe that turns cold dry facts into compelling human drama.Live on stage, each performance shows real-life solutions to your biggest workplace challenges--touching hearts as well as minds--and dramatically raising the quality and value of your education programs.No more talking heads, flip charts. What goes into a CareActors performance? The hospital personnel discuss the learning points and goals with the director and playwright up to a year in advance. CareActors then begins to develop an original script weaving together realistic characters, workplace jargon, and inside humor and smooth integration with an expert facilitator. Casting and rehearsals follow, and the show is ready on time for the event.All CareActors are union actors who work on television, in the theatre and film as well as working in educational theatre.I look forward to integrating some of what I do with CareActors into my work as a public speaker and sales trainer to make my presentations as memorable, valuable, and results oriented as I possibly can.On with the show!
